San Luis Business

Updated January 2018

R&R Market — Owned by Felix and Claudia Romero. The Romero’s are descendants of the original town settlers of San Luis. R&R Market is the oldest continuously running family business in Colorado (Est. 1857).

Sam’s Covered Wagon — Owned by the first (and current) female Mayor of San Luis, Theresa Medina. Family owned for many years. Sam’s has served Mexican/Americana foods for generations.

Speedway Garage — Where everyone goes to get their car repaired or to get an oil change. Generationally owned, Rick and Donald Gallegos offers great service.

Jacales FineArt/Huberto Maestas’ Sculpture Studio/Bronze Foundry — Our local and internationally renowned sculptor is best noted for creating the 14 bronze statues of the Shrine of the Stations of the Cross that sits atop the mesa above San Luis. Maquettes of Huberto’s Stations of the Cross, bronze works are in the permanent collection of the Vatican Museum in Rome, Italy. Thirty San Luis residents flew to Rome to partake in the private presentation of the Shrine replicas to Pope John Paul.
